Airis entered into a cooperative joint venture with Zurich Airport International AG, HSH Nordbank AG, and Booz & Company for the redevelopment of Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport. Airis provided strategic master planning for a 50-year CMB development plan under an MOU with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Transportation.
The project involved the programming, planning, and conceptual land planning design for phased expansion of Bandaranaike International Airport. The development was based on an integrated PAX terminal expansion, commercial and retail support, integration with planned high speed rail connecting the airport with the capitol city, and the introduction of export manufacturing.
Aviation planning included the addition of a second parallel runway, connecting taxiways, integration of military aviation assets and land area, new international PAX terminal, MRO facilities, flight kitchens, cargo infrastructure, fueling systems, and an industrial zone with aircraft adjacency.
